Instrument cluster bulb/bulb holder problems
This is on an '89 with digital guages. My far left light bulb in my cluster is fading out as compared with the rest. It almost seems as if that one bulb is burned out and then it is bright again like thee other three. I replaced all 4 bulbs several months ago with 194's. Bad bub or bulb holder? I like the 194's because you can buy 20 of them for the price of one xenon bulb and they are not as hot. Possibly a weak bulb?

If only one lamp is dimming and then brightening, then you have a poor connection to that lamp. The lamp plugs into a socket that turns 90 deg into the printed circuit board, so you have four spring connections to check. A connection to each pin of the lamp and two spring ears on the socket. You will have to remove the cluster and take the circuit boards out in order to get to the lamp socket.
