This video should help you I'd think. You've mentioned '90 previously. If you want to go deeper check your FSM for upper dash trim pad removal.

Are you wanting to "repair behind/underneath" or just change carpet?

So there is no way that the lower part can be removed separately?

The carpet is attached to a part of the dash panel. Remove it as one piece. Removal is described in the 1990 FSM. If you need the page let me know and I will look it up.

Were you able to figure out your heater problem? Once I got my heater box out and tested the actuator it set a code 01 and would "pulse" when heat was requested. Just sent my programmer, control head and actuators to batee for diagnosis.

The piece of carpet is attached to the upper trim pad (essentially the entire dash pad for the car). The removal of the upper trim pad starts on Pg 8C-14.

Since you have your programmer removed, could you possibly take a picture of the silicon plug with the colored lines showing their position and post it? When I was removing my programmer the tan line came out of the plug and I don't know the correct port to attach it to.

Thanks

Do an eBay search for 10158085 (the vacuum harness) and from the several that are offered you should be able to confirm the port arrangement. The harness is the same '90 to end of production.

This one might have the better views

Try this from a later FSM
