Default Plug and wire advice. 92 LT1

Hi Guy's, I just picked up a 1992 C4 Corvette with 66K. I was going over the car and the plug wires look to be original. The car starts and runs great. Although I notice a slight miss occasionally at WOT. What would
you recommend as replacements?

Thanks in advance!

AC Delco is good enough for an old stock car for wires and a fresh set of NGK plugs. That’s what I put on mine earlier this year.

I just did my 92 with AC Delco Wires and AC Delco 41-904 plugs. With the rebate a set from rock auto worked out to 38 cents a plug.

Default wires plugs

i would replace plugs first, then run it for a while and see if the miss goes away, if not then do the wires also not all wire sets are the same length and you can end up with wires not being the right length, if you are mechanically inclined buy the wires that you can cut to the right length, i went through 2 sets including ac delco and still wound up with too much excess.

Thanks for the reply! Even the AC Delco's were too long?

So - the Plugs on an LT1 are a pain in the neck. A few of them aren't too bad, but a few are downright annoying (you might find it easiest to get to number 8 from below).

Now let's talk plug wires. They are a LOT worse - particularly on the odd (driver side) bank. On the LT1 - the distributor is behind the water pump - and getting to the driver side of the cap is a royal Pain In The a**. I've been able to do it by pulling the belt tensioner, and that gives you some access, but even then - it's annoying work. If you pull the water pump - the job is relatively easy - but you need to drain the system so when the pump comes off it doesn't soak the opti-spark, and pulling the pump is also not real high on the enjoyment index.

Figure a couple of hours to do plugs, and at Least four more hours to do plug wires - SO... I'd think about doing the plugs first - then seeing if there is really a need to do plug wires...

If you do decide to change plug wires - the bigger the wire diameter the harder it will be to route them down under the alternator and to the opti on the driver side. Are 8.5mm wires doable - YES Will you be happy after the job is done - YES. Will you really question your sanity for selecting larger than stock wires while doing the job - YES again...

GOOD LUCK !!!!
