When should I go to Closed Loop?

When should I go to Closed Loop?
I've been monitoring my car while it's running and sometimes my autoxray only says open loop. What particular setting should you be monitoring the engine in? Mon or Data setting?

You should leave it in data mode. Then you can monitor the different parameters. Once the ecm goes into closed loop it should stay there until you turn the engine off or you can a fault code.
