I am looking for a way to mount a fire extinguisher in my 92 Vert so that it does not look tacky, and may actually add to the appearance. I think it makes good sense to carry a fire extinguisher, but there seems to be no good place to mount one. Can anyone recommend anything? Thanks.
A few of the poular Vette catalogs such as Eckler's and Mid America offer one that mount to the front of the passenger seat on the floor. It mounts on the seat rail. Thought about one for mine. I don't think it looks too bad. Just another option. Good luck.
I have one of these in chrome Amerex Halotron. High quality bracket and installed in about 10 minutes. It's out of the way but easy to get to in an emergency.
I went to Lowes got some 1/8"X1 1/4" aluminum stock. Took the plastic rail end caps off of the passengers seat. Cut a piece to fit in front of the seat and bolted it to the small holes left from the end caps. Got a 2.5 lb BC bottle, got a white one matches my car, from a boat shop. The bottle will come with a bracket, I bolted it to my home made mount. It does keep you from getting full movement out of the passengers seat, but I almost never move mine so I did not care. It can be reached from the drivers seat, did not effect the leg room. It was all done for less than $25.00 including the bottle.
The finished product looks like the one posted for sale in that other follow up. Except I put the head near the center of the car, less chance for damage getting in and out of the seat and if I need to grab it is pointed the right way.
I made a bracket for my 92 convert, a stainless plate bent in a 90 angle, mounting to the front seat bolts. It works real good, looks good, does limit forward travel of the seat a bit, but unless you like to be real close to the wheel, its fine.
