Default converting a crossram to tpi

Has it been done, how complex, and opinions on the conversion. I can get an 84 fairly cheap but I want to do away with the crossram and build a engine for a super ram or mini ram intake and would like to know whats all involved in the swap if it is easily done. Thanks in advance. :)

I thought this post was going to say you wanted to add a stock GM TPI to the crossfire engine and I was going to say dont...BUT,I see youre looking at SR or MR intakes. Those would be a ton better to go with.Reason is,for all the work needed for a conversion to the stock GM TPI found on 85-91 Vettes isnt worth the expense and mods for a crossfire upgrade. For going with a SR or MR,I say why not.

Also,The crossfire people have gotten their systems to work really well and theres a website for them, but cant remember the exact name.Im sure someone will add the website here. There are some good performing crossfire engines out there as well you may want to research and check out.

However,to convert to the TPI systems using either a SR or MR, youll need to get the ECM,custom prom,Wire harness, all related sensors, fuel rail and injectors, etc, and the TPI set up of your choice. The fuel pump will also be needed for a TPI type motor(85 and later cars) but not sure about the sending unit itself.

Youll also need to decide if you want a MAF or Mass airflow ECM system or a SD or speed density set up.
MAF is on 85-89 cars and the SD is on the 90-91 cars. Each has their pros and cons.
HTH.

What are the pros and cons to the MAF and Speed Density systems. And also would I possibly get better results from a carb or something similar like the edelbroc mpfi or holley mpfi and could I get these to readout of the stock guages. Thanks for your patience :)

There are some guys on here with 84s that have went to carb engines with great results. Might want to do a search for some threads, or post a topic asking them about it, I would think that it would be much cheaper with the same amount of power as the end result, just my thinking though.
