Is it possible for LT1 Meziere water pumps to come wired backwards from the factory? What behavior would a backwards running pump exhibit? When running the pump w/ the engine off but warm and the radiator cap off, I can see a stream of water coming from the head-head crossover tube into the radiator. The stream was coming out slower than what I had seen w/ my stock gear driven pump. With my stock pump, the stream would be blasting out of the hole. Also, it seems that the output hose from the radiator gets hotter sooner than the one on the input side. Is this normal? Are there any other ways to verify the pump is working correctly?
I have the blue wire going to a 12v ignition source and the black wire to a ground as per the instructions. Also, the plug can only fit on one way, so I couldn't have wired it backwards.

Re: Verifying Meziere Water Pump Functionality (Langadorf)
Meziere did have some quality control problems that caused a defect in the pump I got. Shoot them an e-mail explaining your problem, I'm sure they will help. The did a great job for me correcting my problem.
Re: Verifying Meziere Water Pump Functionality (Langadorf)
Reverse the wire connections and see if there is an improvement. One of the items in the instructions is to check to make sure the pump is turning in the correct direction. (I skipped this item too)
Re: Verifying Meziere Water Pump Functionality (Langadorf)
I have a remote located CSI wp on my 86 and found that it had to be primed(meaning the cooling system had to be very full for the pump to be able to grab and then push the fluid) or I experienced the trick that you describe also. just a thought.

which way is there LT1/4 pump supposed to turn?
Stock direction or opposite?
It says for sure in the directions, but I want to say it is supposed to turn counter clockwise. I am not possitive though and my directions have long since been thrown away. If it is turning correctly, you should see a steady stream coming out of the return hole in the coolant fill tank and the water will be streaming from right to left.

Counter-clockwise is what I remember. Call them 1-760-746-3273.
Water should be shooting from the top tube below the cap seat (not the overflow tube).
Don't run the engine until it is working correctly.
