You have to change the seals.

I have also heard horror storys of peoples silt screens geting claguged after geting there valve seals done and frying the motor :U :nono:

 If you don't change (upgrade) anything when you change the seals, Why would the engine went bad after? Its going to cost you a lot of money to have the shop to do it (labor charge). It only cost about ~$30 for the seals Intake and exaust.

Replacing the valve seals isn't that difficult, you don't have to pull the heads, but you want to check the valve guides while doing the seals

And you also want to change the springs as well...and they only cost $30 too.

The seals get brittle after extended time and heat cycling.

Don't worry about it; I changed mine with 113k miles on the clock and also installed 1.6RRs.

It's kind of a pita without compressed air but not realy difficult.

Get a set of lower & upper seals from your Chevy dealer and a set of machined locks and have at it.

I changed my seals on both sides in 3 hours. It was not hard, Just time consuming. The seals should be replaced if they need to be replaced.
