Default 4:11 city driving

considering swap to 4:11 in my LT4. object is reduce amount of shifts for round town driving. will I be able to start off in second and make one up shift ( 4th) for most daily traffic situations ? I'm jacked up on chemo and the constant effort of the 6mt wears me out pretty quick. if this is not a viable option, thinking of switching to an 08+ paddle shift car.

short answer. Yes. Although you can easily do that now with stock gear. 4.10s will certainly make the take off in 2nd gear easier on you and the clutch though

Why can't you do the same thing with 1st and 3'?

M6 + 4.10 = 1800 rpms at 70 mph, very highway friendly.

^^Agreed, 4.10 is great for highway work.

Lots of shifting around town if you go 1 - 2 -3. Usually 1st to 3rd works best for me.

dont think 2nd gear@40 with 4.11s will work for you. It wont be bad but think youre better off going 1-3 and healing up. Frustrating being sick to where you cant drive believe me. Get better

edit if you decide to go 4.11 anyway no 1st wont be useless, have it with a 26 in tire its just right

when you get better add some stroke, a port job & solid roller youll fall in love with that 4.11

I have a 1994 with a 4L60E, 3000 stall TC and 4.11. Even though I don't have a manual, go for it and don't look back. The smile per mile is worth it.

The ZF6 is geared a bit tall in 1st and 2nd anyway, and the first five ratios are fairly close compared to most street cars. Combined with your LT4's higher redline (I think it's 6400rpm?), that means the car should respond well to 4.11s. That said, even with the stock 3.45 gears, that car was designed to be launched in first and skip-shifted directly to 4th gear at low speeds. Considering that the car redlines at something like 60mp in 1st with the stock gears, I think you could save your money and just really use 1st for and then either pick 3rd for driving in neighborhoods or 4th for streets that have 35mph limits or higher.
