2.59 to 3.07 - looking for parts
I have a 1995 automatic with a 2.59. I have done a lot of research and a 3.07 looks like the best choice based on my driving.
Looking for a recommended ring and pinion supplier. I have searched on-line all night and the top part suppliers do not offer what I think I need.
Dana 36 3.07 and I believe it should be thick.
Any guidance here will be appreciated.
Thanks

Have you considered buying a D36 with 3.07 gears and swapping it into your car? You should be able to pick one up relatively cheap and it shouldn't take more than a few hours to do the swap.

I know you stated that 3.07's was your choice. You will not notice much of difference from a 2.59. I did that. I installed 3.54's and I should of did 3.73's. I was nervous about putting too much gear and the car screaming down the highway. I was wrong. I also have engine work with a 2300 stall. I still say I should of done the 3.73's.
just my experience.

I have a 94 vert, auto, stock, and the 3.07s really woke it up on the bottom end. Very touchy throttle now. I swapped in a D36 center from an 85. If I remember correctly I got it from another member here. I am very happy with it and little to no sacrifice of mileage on the highway. Biggest pain was having to buy a Hypertech programmer just to recalibrate the speedo. Is it an instant racecar now? No, but its plenty of fun and will hold its own.

You have to swap the pumpkin to get to 3.07 from 2.xx
p.s. I did 3.54s and if you want to drive the car more than a short distance or on a highway they're awful.

The 3.07's are thin gear and I believe series 3 carrier, the 2.59's you have has the series 2, so you need a new carrier, best thing to do buy a hole used unit with 3.07's. If you search the parts section you may find one, also ebay.

I swapped from 2;59 to 3:07 and love it. Bought gears in housing off this forum for 400.00 shipped. Another 400,00 to have it installed plus changing speedometer gears

Because the 3.07 was a basic $50.00 option on 95's and came in a dana 36 there should be many of them around. Just watch the "parts for sale" section here or check with several of the corvette salvage yard vendors. I would think that you should be able to get a complete pumpkin rather inexpensively.
The swap from the 2.59 to the 3.07 will be significantly noticeable in SOTP without a significant drop in mileage.
