I have a 95 corvette that was recently bought for me for a graduation present. Lately, I have been having some problems getting it to start. Sometimes it starts up quickly however, most of the time it cranks for a while before finally firing. When I drive the car after initially starting it (before it warms up) the engine bogs down if I apply too much gas. Once it is warm the car runs fine. I've also noticed that there is black residue on the inner two (out of four) of my exhausts. I have recently gotten the starter replaced, and the battery tested, all seems fine. Also i have raken the mass air intake apart and gently cleaned the little wires with a fine paint brush, and i notice some liquid inside that i wiped away, i do not think it should be there either. Please let me know if you can help me!
First item I would check is the vacuum line for the fuel pressure regulator. See if there is fuel in it. If there is, the FPR is leaking and loading up the manifold for a rich start. Take off the vacuum line off the manifold and turn the key to ON for a couple seconds and see if any fuel comes out of the line.
If the line is dry, then more information might be needed.
You should never touch the wires on the MAF. You should always use MAF cleaner spray to clean it. Get it at any auto parts store.
