This may be a simple question, but this is the first time I've changed plugs and wires on my 95 LT1. It appears that I must remove the A/C compressor and Alt to get to the distributor and front plugs on the drivers side. Can someone verify this before I start the process. Is there another way? Thanks for any info.

If you have jackstands and get the car up high enough, you can get to the drivers side plugs at the opti from underneath the car. Once you're under the car, look to the left of the oil pan on the drivers side (you'll need a flash light) and you'll see the wires. It's definitely a tight fit, and you'll have to go by feel once you get your hand in there, but that's how I did them not too long ago. Just make sure to take your time and do them 7-5-3-1 and 8-6-4-2. The first time is always a PITA, but once you're done, you'll know all the tricks on how to do them.
Also, for the plugs - make sure you use anti-seize and go slow on them if they've never been changed before. Mine were never changed and I broke several of the plugs trying to get them out. You'll find the job easier if you get a 2 foot extension and a swivel socket adapter (Sears) as well as a short well 3/8" socket (hex) in case you start to strip the plug (almost happened to me on #8). I also removed the splash guards in the wheel well for easier access to #1, 3, 2 and 4. Good luck! :)

All I did was remove the belt, and turn the tensioner pully out of the way, and I was able to reach the driver side. Wasn't easy, but was able to do it. Take the cover off the LF wheel well to pull the wires through, this will help a great deal.
This is one place I don't envy you LT1 guys. I jsut yanked all my plugs to clean them after all the trouble I had and it took about 20 min to pull them all, clean them and re-install.
I do feel your pain, though, I had a '97 T/A and never even tried to changed the plugs after a friend spent 7 hrs straight on his 95 Formula.
Sorry, I can't offer any advice, but good luck.
