Installing my headers and have a problem on the drivers side (passangers side laid in nicely from top, installed starter and bolted up). Drivers side I had to put in from bottom, I was able to get it in place, but the steering shaft is hitting the header (so tight that I cant get the gasket in place). Wondering if anyone else has had this problem? Can I take that thing and turn it around? Will it hookup on the other ends the right way? How about doing away with that center link thing all together and getting somethign made to connect through?
Any other ideas? This is something I am in desperate need of fixing... cars close to being ready to start :D
Thanks
Matt
How old are they? Lingenfelters have always been T-304 SS and I've never seen it rust like that. Not saying they can't be Lingenfelters, but just be sure. I imagine alot of sbc 350 headers look identical until you actually put them side by side and see the minor variations that make them fit a particular model.
Blue one :p:
I'll sell em for $350 (I think thats what the guy was selling the 1-3/4 version for, these are 1-5/8", if interested in these I'd upgrade to the 1-3/4 for myself... Or if interested in 1-3/4 I will put you in contact with him).
I just went and tried to lift the steering wheel up, and it wont move at all because its touching. So I will drop the header and mount the steering wheel back in its place.
Its something I didnt think about this morning at 4am :p:
Well, I had my midnight thoughts (I work nights so its midnight to me now) back to bed for a few hours, then I'll mess with it then!
Silver: They are old... Its before he did the new type of coating on them. They were also a 2.5" collector to start (something he said he hasnt done in YEARS). They came off a 90 vette that got an SC and custom 2"-3.5" headers. They sat in the back of a shop (outside I think) for some time and rusted then, its just surface rust.
Most the headers I have seen dont have to hug the motor as close, they have alot more room on the sides. Never heard of starter issues on normal 350's, just vettes. Could be wrong though...
These are Vette headers though.... not sure if the 90 used different steering, dont have one to look at anymore :(
Hey blown!
Nice to see you around. Hows the car treating you?
I couldnt remember how much I paid, thanks for mentioning that.
BTW I had the headers modified to a 3" collector a few weeks ago, great work done to them. Hopefully work better for the car untill I can get 1-3/4s :)
Thanks for the offer, but i can get new Hooker 2151's for $300 for summit as most people say they fit good and spark plugs are easyer than the LPE'S i will go that way i think :yesnod: they are not coated for that price tho so i will have to find someone to do them over here
