Ground question
My issue is this. The engine harness has been modified I want to relocate stuff for easier wiring/ access (relays where AC blower was at firewall for example). The problem is, the grounds wont let me do that without making them longer. So I am wondering if I can ground some of the things that used to ground to the engine block (drivers side) to the frame (passangers side) and not have any problems. I know I would need to get a good clean metal to metal contact at that location. Would/ should I run a ground strap from that part of the frame to somewhere on the motor?
If I ground the stuff to the frame, will I have any issues with anything? Stereo problems, etc? (Aftermarket stereo setup)
Thanks all!
Matt
a "good ground", check the continuity between the block and your new location.
Do not reroute any grounds that are on control or signal side to/from the ECM; power grounds are more foregiving.
After you have the new ground hookups, use a DMM to search for voltage differences between ground points under load (full accessory and engine use).
