I've been trying to research what tires to get. I have 18" tall by 10" wheels from a year 2000 vette. Right now I have Kumoh 275-40-18 ties and with my new engine and 4.10 gears Im getting no traction what so ever. I dont plan on going to the track often but hope to try it a couple time a season. mostly it will be for the street where its not practical to do a burnout. Ive tried to some 60' launches in parking lots but cant seem to get under 2.69 seconds,Im spinning the whole way and thats with a burnout I would like to know others experience because at the prices they want for these things I dont want do much "experimenting".Ive been using a GPS phone app to time myself has anyone else tried this and know how accurate they are. the one Im using is called Car performance on Android. Thanks
Never seen that work out, if it were me pick up a set of cheap beat up 17s and get some M/T for track night, doesnt seem to be much in between.
Doesnt have to look pretty to hook for one night; wound up using M/T full time as its only an occasional driver
are the ET Street SS what you guys are recommending? . I have 2000 vette 5 spokes. Do you think if I get an extra pair of front rims that the 275/40/17 will fit the rim width? also would the sidewall be the same if I went with the 275/45/18?that way I wouldnt have to buy another set of rims. I cant get over the 18' tires are almost $100. more per tire.

Kumhos are pure street tires. Do a burnout with them and they can turn to grease.
Best times with them are to turn them over about three times to clean the gravel off the tread and then launch.
Drag radials are not street tires. Look into a Max/Ultra Summer Performance tire; a dozen different brands are available.
Nitto NT555R tires have been very popular for several years.
