I have them on my 1985 stock engine. They sound great! They are sold under the name of: Allens Chambered Muffler Deletes. If you get them, be sure to place an "H" pipe in the exhaust system. It evens out the sound so much better. I highly recommend the chambered type over the plain muffler deletes.

It's a nice deep rumble. The sound reminds me of the old school side pipes used on C2's and C3's. It sounds like a Vette should. Not too loud but when you push the go pedal hard, people know your coming! Most everyone I talk to like the sound they produce. I do too.

I have the Mid America eliminators. They're a sort of glass pack style eliminator. Mild at idle loud when you're on it. If I take off from the light hard that is half a mile away from my house you can hear it clearly. It's a very particular sound you either like or you don't. I attached a couple of clips to give you an idea. I almost went with Allen's stainless based on reviews. I just really liked the zr1 tips from mid america.

I get a very slight popping on deceleration. It's a "good" sound though. I too have a straight pipes set up and the catalytic converter is gone. "Antique Plates" allow this. The popping is a whole lot less noticible with the "H" pipe installed as it's a more evened out sound. 84 4+3's video is a perfect example of the more aggressive exhaust note. After hearing his video, I had to go out and start my engine after a long winter nap!

I had them on my '94.
When I first got the car I couldn't stand it it was so loud with muffler eliminators.
Then I drove it for 2.5 years and about 50k miles. During that time I found that I could control it with the throttle. Press down and it is loud, press softly and it isn't bad.
It had the best sound at idle of any car I have heard. Love it. It is a low tone deep rumble.
I did not have the deceleration popping with my '94. I have heard that the '94-'96 may pop less due to the sequential injection and better fuel control.
At the end of the 2.5 years I had the car, I sold it. It is the sound I miss more than any other system. (and I currently have a borla, corsa, and B&B cat back systems)
I would suggest that you go for it. It is one of the least expensive changes to try.

I would also like to say that the Allen's Stainless Exhaust parts are great quality and very easy to install.
I have a 1988 C4 Coupe and I installed a Allen's "Cat-Back" system more than 15 years ago. I bought it from Allen's at Corvettes @ Carlisle and saved on the shipping. I did install a Hi-Flow catalytic Converter at the time since it was easy to do while the exhaust was off.
The chambered pipes sound really nice out back of the car. Inside the car the stereo is easy to hear while driving at 60 mph. Loosing the extra weight of those two huge mufflers has got to help these Corvettes.
I have installed Allen's Chambered Exhaust systems on both of my Corvettes and I have never had an issue with either of them. I also want to say that neither of my cars "pops" while decelerating.

Same, a hard down shift and coast to a light usually does it. All my emissions are still in tact and 100% functional. Pretty much any straight through style car I've driven does it a little bit. The manual is just the easiest to meet those conditions.

pops are fuel that didn't burn in the cylinder. If you decel and keep hearing popa pop pop popadoo popa pop noises it means your injector is leaking non stop. It should just pop once or twice then stop completely in a pure decel. The last little pop or two is a fuel mis-metering due to the suddenly transitioning throttle. Usually if you release the pedal more slowly it will not pop as much/or at all.
