1986 After Market Tachometer

I want to install an after market tachometer with a shift light. The car still has the HEI ignition. I wanted to know which wire is the tachometer source?

Any help would be appreciated and or a picture.

the plug that goes into the computer (this is an 85 - not sure if its exactly the same as 86 but most likely) has a white wire in the loom, this is the tach input into the ecm,
see where the white wire is cut, that has been spliced into the white wire input (but currently disconnected) for aftermarket tach using HEI.

If it's still an HEI 'coil in cap' here's wiring ID at the distributor. Unless it's been tampered with tach lead is generally white
