I just got one used from another member, haven't mounted it yet but its pretty damn solid. I would venture to bet that it is more solid than the targa itself

Default truss bar

Have one on my 92 and years ago on a 90 ZR1 It is a night and day difference on my cars. Without it, the body flexes and shakes. Others have said they have no flex when roof is off and no truss bar but thats been my experience They are hard to find, a guy in Ohio had been making them and expect to pay up to $400 for one Good luck

I purchased one from Tom last year and could not believe the difference it makes. I have the ZO7 option on my 92 so it rides stiff with the higher spring rates and would flex a lot with the targa top off. With the truss bar from Tom it is even stiffer than with the targa top on. $475 shipped to your door from Tom. He is sometimes hard to get ahold of but keep trying it is worth it.

I as well bought mine from Tom about 1-1/2 years, or so, ago. My '96 is low miles, 25.5k mi, and with it installed it makes the car feel more solid than when I have the solid color top in place. I definitely recommend it if you'd like to drive around without any of the tops in place. Good luck.

I bought a truss bar a couple years ago. I tried today to give it a try but; I forgot how to adjust it and make it fit. Is there any tricks or procedure to install it. I have an early 86.

thanks..

Very easy

loosen the 2 bolts at each corner on the truss, Fit the truss to the car so the pins line up snug the bolts (fronts you want to do first as you will need to lift up the truss a bit to snug) remove and tighten.

I replaced the front bolts with rounded bolts just for looks.

I also capped the ends

I tried everything. After I aligned the rear bolts, the fronts aren't even close. I tried for hours all different ways. I have no idea how this thing goes on. I hope Tom answers the phone. If not, it goes back into the basement for another few years.

Default Wrong One

I hope not!!! I have to get the measurements from the different targas. The fronts on mine are almost there but, I can't push it down anymore. I tried tightening the bolts in all different ways for hours. The fronts never lined up once.

I've got one. Only way to drive with the top off. Can't wait for the warm weather.

rrt898 ... There is a "Setup Instructions" sheet, from Pro Street, for lining up the mounts.
Do you have it?
If not I think I still do and can scan and post it.

I took my top off for the first time last week. I was surprised how much the shook without it.
