Default LT4 CES light issues (He's baaaaaacckk!)

Per the title, my Check Engine Soon light is on again. For those new to this one, last week I oiled my K&N filter and about two days later, the CES light came on. We pulled codes 101 and 108, re set the system and waited. The CES light reingnited the next morning going to work. Next time out, I removed the MAF, blew it out and reinstalled it. Two days later the light came back on. Last night I used a low residue chlorinated aerosol degreaser to clean the MAF wires. The light's back again this afternoon. Tonight I'm planning to re-clean the MAF and reinstall the GM filter (as a way to eliminate the K&N oil as the culpret). Anyone got any ideas out there? I could use some guidance. Cire96 ...Wednesday update....Put the GM unit back on, cleaned the MAF. CES light came back on after the engine warmed up! HELP PLEASE :smash:

It sounds to me like you might need a MAF. I would try cleaning it again, but as for replacing the K&N if I'm on the fence. It can't hurt to try, but if you've already contaminated the MAF it may be to late. Clean it again, make sure the filter is fully drained of any excess oil, & triple check the wiring & connections to the MAF. If that doesn't work it's probably time for a MAF. That's my .02.

cire96 - use brake cleaner and spray the MAF wires down. It's a great solvent, and evaporates with no residue. It's the best way to clean the wires

I'm still stumped. I cleaned the MAf wires with brake cleaner and reinsatalled the GM air filter and cleared the codes. The SES light was back on in ten minutes. BTW, the car seems to be running perfectly! :mad

Sounds like the MAF is shorted. If you get to much oil on it, that can ruin it. It will still run well, you'll just have a light. I've seen it happen before. That's what help I can offer.
