while cruising around saturday i noticed my engine oil temp was at about 110 maybe 120 ambient air temp outside was 60 degrees , does my oil temp sound correct??? thanks guys, engine h2o temps and other guages seem to all work fine
mine reads Lo {digital Dash} if below 150 or 140 or so (don't remember when is starts to register) , oil runs 195-205 with the engine fully warmed; oil temp lags water temp up to 195 or so... on really hot days water CYCLES 220-230, OIL @195 -200... around town on a hot day in traffic the water will be above 220... with the oil (Mobil 1 of course) @ around 200. pull out on the superslab & the water drops to 190-195 the oilw ill run just under 200 F
My Oil temp has always lagged behind the water temp since I bought ordered mine new. I have new sender and it still is always 20 to 30 degrees lower than water temps. even more on really hot days when water gets to 260 level in heavy stop and go DC traffic.

Re: 1990 l98 engine oil temp?? (corvette1990)
 Don't mean to alarm you, but I think you may have a bad sensor.
Over the years there have been many posts on this topic and I believe oil at 20 degrees above water is standard.
Oil 20degrees below water temp, if true, means that oil is not warm enough to boil off contaminents.
If water temp is getting to 260 degrees, I'd want to clean the radiator and install some lower temp fan turn on switches. If water get to 260, oil has to be way over that!
