power window fixed
So following principles of good trouble shooting, I thought should I remove the door panel and test for power at the motor or remove the console and test for power at the switch.
Both of em are kind of a coin toss, 'cause they're both a PITA. I pulled the door panel 'cause I thought that would be easier than the console. WRONG!
Of course once you get into the door ya got that stupid aluminum plate to deal with. Well all of sudden this didn't look like such an attractive alternative. So I started looking at the console.
Upon careful inquiry I realized that when I put the switch in the down position I got a very faint click out of the motor ( I mean barely audible) and the dash display dimmed ever so slightly ( again barely noticeable).
Being the quick witted devil I am I thought I bet the problem is in the switch and not the motor. So I set to getting at the switch.
Man what a screw around. You have to remove basically all the plastic on the upper dash in order to be able to lift the console and get at the switch.
There was some swearin goin on I'll tell you. Eventually I got in there. I had a spare switch that I had salvaged from a car several years ago so I unplugged the switch, plugged in the replacement and voila! the window worked.
Then came the getting everything back together including putting the door panel on. So that was how I spent my Easter Sunday.
What it does is give you a tip that can be either Positive or Ground by using a rocker switch in the handle. When the rocker switch is in the middle the display is whatever the tip is touching. Your window motor could be tested to see if it worked. You can supply full battery voltage or a solid ground directly from the vehicle battery to any connection you choose. It has a 20 amp circuit breaker built in as well as a display that shows you voltage drops and lots of other information.

If you ever want to buy one look on Ebay or Amazon for the best price.
I have used this tool weekly for many years now. It has helped me on Motorcycles, Cars, Boats, lawn equipment and even my Cessna. After showing it to my mechanic she has one now. Very worthwhile investment for Fiberglass cars with electronic fuel injection.
I love this tool, it is invaluable in my shop. The best one to get would be the latest model, the Model 4. It can do so much around a shop.
Good Luck!
