Default comp. cams question

Was wondering about the 500 series cams for the LT1. In their catalog they show the 304, 305, and 306 series cams and then below that they show these 4, 500 series cams. Are these supposed to make better power or what is the advantage or disadvantage of them. It looks like they run a little less lift, but the lobe sep. is at 112 instead of 114 like the 304 and 305 series.

I think those are the extreme energy cams. They have a faster ramp rate and are harder on the valve train. I've heard of some pretty good results with the 224/230 one, it's a little more aggresive than the 305 with a 112lsa, faster ramps and more duration on the intake. Probably fairly hard to smog also if that concerns you. Take their rpm ranges with a grain of salt too. With the 305 I'm running the RWHP is still climbing at 6300 when I shut it down on the dyno.

Hey Half Fast,
Thanks for your answer. I am considering changing out the cam this winter and emissions is a concern. I didnt know if this new series was supposed to have any advantage over the older series, ie: emissions, power etc.
