Default Label on chip

I pulled the computer on my 88 and found a hand written label on the chip that read D01C-CAM. Digging through the records for the car I found some receipts for heads, cam, and timing chain/gears that the original owner had purchased when the car was fairly new. Does anyone know if these numbers mean anything? I am wanting to buy a performance chip but if this chip is programed for a different cam then I don't want to mess with it. Any chip programers know what it means? Thanks.

That only means something to the guy who programmed the chip. If you have a scanner and lot of time, you can take a look at the data to see if it could be tuned better. If not, getting a new chip to work better than what you've got now, is a shot in the dark.

Or you would have to scan the EPROM and compare with the stock '88 unit.

A chip usually isn't very beneficial to a MAF L98 unless some heavy mods have been done.

Anyway you have a custom chip; so to fine tune it now try base timing tweaks and AFPR adjustments.

Thanks for the tips. I am still trying to locate the original owner to see exactly what he had done to the engine. Then I will try to locate someone who can do a custom burn for me.
