85 Replacement Window Regulators

85 Replacement Window Regulators
On my 85 the original window regulators stopped working. I searched for replacement window regulators and selected the replacement window regulators from Corvette Central. I have had nothing but problems with them. They bent and the motor was so weak it was unable to move the glass up. I have been very frustrated with these window regulators with constant problems. I'm searching for another replacement window regulator that is strong, durable, reliable and at a reasonable price. Need the window regulator to work as well or better than the original equipment. Who manufactures a quality window regulator at a reasonable price?
Thank you.
Thank you.

What you want to do is the replacement of 85 ribbon type with newer scissor type.
Requires one hole drilled in the bottom of the door.

Yes, I did get rid of the ribbon type with the newer scissor type. And yes, It required one hole to be drilled in the bottom of the door, but the cheap metal that the manufacture uses bends due to the glass weight or the new motor is too weak to move the glass up. It requires tapping on the motor to get the window to go up. I did hear about in my search that some people use a newer but used window regulator from a corvette instead of using an aftermarket brand new window regulator. Did you hear anything about that?

Thank you for your reply. You are right that the newer window regulator was faster than the original regulator. In my case, the reliability from Corvette Central replacement window regulators last maybe at most several months before it stops working. What manufactured replacement window regulator did you select? I'm checking out my options.

Ebay and Amazon both have oem AC Delco units. There are also aftermarket units available for less. Just depends how much you want to spend. I went with a Delco unit because I am keeping the car.

I found a later regulator and it has been tested at a corvette parts store for $150.

I replaced mine with OEM regulators from a later model car. I got two used units from a Corvette salvage yard for $139.00 for both plus shipping. Have not had any problems with either side and that were done in 2012.
