Default Alternator brackets on an LT based engine...

Does anyone have pics of the alternator brackets on an LT based engine? This is in regard to a 1996 CE with LT4...I am guessing they are probably the same.

Anyway, I see a threaded part on the intake area next to one bracket...and I see a threaded hole on back of the alternator. Both of these are not being used on the car in question. The way the other brackets are, I am thinking maybe I am missing one...and maybe it's where the alternator grounds or something. Maybe the cause of the sparks flying lately. Will post pics shortly, but please share any you may have of this area...thanks!

Default Pics...

Okay, so here's a pic. I am not very good with paint shop, or I'd put some arrows in there.

On the intake manifold area, there are two threaded areas. I have the one flat bracket that goes across the valve cover, and bolts to the alternator and AC compressor, if my memory is serving me well. There's another threaded spot on the intake manifold area right in front of it, or behind it that has nothing in it...on mine anyway. Then, there's a threaded area on back of the alternator that has nothing in it either. By the way the other brackets look, it almost looks as though there should be another short tubular bracket going between those two. Anyone have pics of this area, and does anyone know if the alternator is possibly grounded this way. Might be the reason for the failure to begin with, but I am stabbing in the dark...

Thanks!

In your older thread I posted some images. These images I believe display all brackets/braces. If you believe you're missing the 3 hole inner brace that's a GM # 10186193 and there's maybe snapshots on eBay.

**It wouldn't be unusual to have additional threaded bosses on the 'reman' alternator as it likely has various applications. Do you still have your old core? You haven't resolved the issue yet?

I'll look those over again, but I think I have the 3-hole one...it just isn't on in the picture. Thanks!

In this snapshot maybe it will be easier for someone to tell you what goes where. If you don't have the inner brace mounted that satisfies one position I'd think so there's only one maybe that needs help.

Thanks for the pic! See that bolt under the black throttle cable bracket that holds the brace for the alternator/ac compressor? In front of that, you have a threaded hole...is that just supposed to be bare like that, or does another brace of some sort mount there, and to the alternator? Mine looks the same...just wondering. Thanks!

I have the alternator that was in it, but it is non-original, and is identical to the replacement.

Nope..I don't drive the car daily, so not dependent on it. Rather take longer and just do it once.

Thanks!

Thanks...turns out I'm not missing any. One just wasn't mounted right.

Yes, I think I have it resolved now, but gonna do a little testing to make sure I'm not overcharging.

Thank you!
