Default lightweight 3" mufflers ?

Anyone know of a company making lightweight 3" mufflers and inlet pipes.I have to run mufflers in the class I'm in and would like to lighten it up and put 3" on it. I already have big tube headers with a true dual system w/ x pipe, but they dump into my 2.5 borlas.Have dyno tested it with some slip on 3" mufflers at the rear pipes.with a 14 hp increase at 6500 rpm and it goes up all the way from 2300 rpm.511 hp before,525 after.(built 383)Now I'm looking for 3 inch muffler delete pipes.Anyone know if anyone makes them?Going to get the dynomax that "69427" suggested.

I had the same problem/issue a few years back. I measured the backpressure of my 2.5" mufflers and wanted a better flowing system. I welded up a 3" exhaust and put 3" Dynomax mufflers on my '69. Flowed great and sounded great. But in my quest for a lighter car, I looked around for lighter mufflers (the 3" Dynomax mufflers on the car with inlet and outlet pipes were 16# apiece). After failing to find any lightweight aftermarket mufflers that were "appropriate" for my car, I just ended up fabricating a set of my own out of aluminum sheet and tubing. I copied the exterior dimensions of the Dynomax mufflers (but designed the interior flow areas a bit differently) so that my car retained its stock appearance. These mufflers are 10# each, for a total of 12# off the car. They sound stock, look stock, flow well, and reduce the mass of the car.

I did a similar thing (aluminum muffler) to my C4, but just made one muffler as I just have single exhaust on it due to running a single turbo on the engine.

I've run several road course track days, and the mufflers are holding up well (no breaks, cracks, or molten aluminum puddles on the track).

My "solution" isn't for everyone, but it's worked out well for me.

Let us know what you end up doing/finding.

Burns Stainless makes lightweight mufflers. I have the two stage and are very happy with them. I had the rest custom made to fit on a 93 coupe. Got rid of the heavy Corsa cat back system..

It's starting to look like I'll have to fabricate something also.Probably get the muffler delete pipes and cut them and weld in some 3" mufflers.I'll post when I get something done.First job is to find out why all of a sudden there's no power to the starter.Car sat all winter, started it up every 2 weeks, now that I have my first points race in 2 weeks something **** the bed on me.Guess it's better here than at the track. Thanks
