Here's something if you have access to a press. I made a tool to press out the old U-joints like the TigerTool unit will without putting excess stress on the half shaft itself. It presses on the U-Joint cross shafts and can press out the caps enough to grab them with a pliers or vice grips.

It worked out well for me especially since the old ones were very rusted up. I couldn't tell if the old caps were coated or not but it took a fair amount of pressure to get them to move. Had I used a vice or big hammer to drive them out I don't know if it would have damaged the half shafts or not without the tool and press.

Hope it helps someone out.

I don’t recall the part number, but here’s how to get it.
Go to the Moog website and search for your make and model C4.
Once you have it, just click on find stores, where you will find suppliers.
An easier way is just go to or log into Advanced Auto, they have it in their inventory as the correct part.

I think it was Moog 231-C. The “C” being the coated version applicable to Aluminum drive shafts

Yep, that's the one. Advance Auto doesn't have them in stock in my area, but they can get them next day, I think. But they aren't cheap there. If you can wait a couple days for shipping, there are much cheaper online options.

with 383vett...I put the uncoated joints on my car 11 years and 72,000 miles ago and still no problems...I would say it probably doesn't matter which you use.....WW
