Is there any software along with somekind of module that can be bought in order to tune the engine without having to send the computer to anybody? I'm asking this because for mustangs there are several programs such as "Mafterburner" or "Tweecer" and so on that one can tune the car with a laptop. Is there something for vettes too? My goal is to go twin turbo and one of those would really help the tune.
Check out the post at the top of this section-the "corvette forum ecm/pcm tuning faq" -it gives a good overview of hardware and software. Personally I use tunercat, diacom and a pocket programmer.
It depends upon the year/motor/computer in the car. TunerCat makes tuner software for most of the popular GM computers except for the latest ones. LT1-Edit from Carputing will handle the 94 and up computers with EEPROM memory. The older computers with removable chips will require a PROM burner to create the new chip. I prefer DataMaster from TTS Data Systems for scanning pre OBDII computers.
I thought I saw something on TunerCat site the other day. There are PC to PCM programmers available. Sorry I can't offer any details, as I havn't touched PCM's.
If not TCat, try the cable maker sites,... AKA Electronics.
