Replaceing brake hard lines
1988 Vette coupe.....Found master cylinder had leak at rear seal and noticed fluid loss, etc. I replaced master. Then, catastrophe - noticed
pin-hole leak at driver rear hard pipe behind wheel!

. (I should be really pi$$ed but, that probably saved me from failure in traffic).Removing wheel, saw that a hard brake line was very rusted where it makes a turn to go to abs and, it obviously needs replacing. Looks like a MONUMENTAL job! Will wind up replacing all the hard tubes back there.
Has anyone here replaced their brake tubes and if so, any greater difficulties than what I am imagining?

Never on a C4 but I've used pre-bent kits for several trucks from a couple vendors. Even if they don't show an application in their catalog make a call and if someone has surrendered theirs to be used as a 'sample' they may still be able to help. '88 I might expect a difficult application.
The last couple I've done came from Classic Tube. If the Corvette resellers show them in their catalog you can be sure someone does BUT I'd prefer in this case a direct purchase from someone that does the work.
I just noticed I had a spelling error in my title!...ugh!...I should have finished my coffee before posting!. Anyway, I have found some pre-bent kits and am waiting for another price quote...Will advise.
Haven't done anything with the brake lines as of yet....I looked in my helms manual and DID NOT see any diagram of the routing of the hard-line brake lines
.Doe anyone know as to where I could view same?..Thanks for the assistance.

I figured that if this was going to be a bit-h of a job to do, that I may consider replacing just the bad section(s) of line and "splice" into the good sections if, and only if this appears to be "over my head" (purchase complete bend lines for car and cut same to use).
I have spliced a brake line in my other car 3 years ago and works like a champ. Hate to cut a new line but, sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
