Leave hood on or take it off? I know their heavy, clumsy and probably a bitch to align correctly. Anyone pulled motor and trans with it on?
I pulled my hood off to remove the engine and transmission, was a lot easier than from the side with hood on.
(if you have a level concrete floor with enough room you can do it from the side with hood on).
As long as you scribe / mark the nut locations it will bolt straight back on in correct alignment. The nuts and washers leave a mark as well for easy alignment.
I too pulled my hood off to remove the engine. As gerardvg said, as long as you mark where it was lined up it will go back on with little fuss. I had two helpers to put it back on and one was 7 years old.
