Default 1985 corvette needs tuning advice

Here's what I'm working with: 1227165 ECU from a 1987 Vet, Moates APU1, ARAP bin, 6E xdf, and AEM wide band gauge. 383 all forge rotating assembly, Comp Cam 288HR int 236/ exh 242, Valve Lift int 554/ exh 576, Lobe Sep 110*, Intake centerline 106*, Mini Ram intake, 58mm TB, 30lb injectors, 1.6 RR,
I have a 1985 Corvette with a 383 I'm trying to tune. I've been through two mail order tunes which were disappointing. So I'm learning to tune my car myself. My plan of attack has been to first start tuning the fueling in open loop, then tune the fueling in closed loop, and then go on to timing. So, I have some questions. When tuning in closed loop should I be making fuel adjustments in the power enrichment vs RPM and power enrichment vs. coolant tables or should I just work in the MAF tables? So far I've been tuning in the two open loop and the tables. Since I made some fuel changes in the open loop tables should I be looking at other tables for fuel changes for open loop tuning?
Last question has to do with cold and warm start. My cold and warm start idle starts off at 500 - 600 rpm. The idles does increase slowly to 700 – 800 rpm as the engine warms up. I've made changes in the startup enrichment vs. coolant table. I added fuel in small increments, but that only made it worst where the engine would not start. Should I be looking at other tables to bring the idle up? I have my idle vs. coolant table set at 1100 rpm @ -40* down to 750 rpm @ 176-219*.and the IAC count is 160 at start up. Could someone help me out and point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance!

Just went through this with my 427 and it sounds like we encountered the same problems. My Son inlaw went through the tuning school to get the basic procedure down. His LS knowledge translated pretty well over to the old TPI stuff.
1)Make sure you have data on your injectors, especially at lower pulse widths.
2) We started from base APYP Using wideband O2 info for tuning.
3) Turn off Accel enrichment and Power enrichment by setting the LV8 thresholds at 255
4) Force open loop by setting the Closed Loop temp thresholds above 230
5) Work on your idle mixtures first. Once it is idling fairly well start driving.
6) Drive it at steady speeds and adjust your MAF tables. Ignore the transients when you change throttle positions.
7) work your way up through the Maf tables at least up to table 3 or 4.
8) Enable Acceleration Enrichment and start tuning the transients (I just got that working really well this week) AE versus delta TPS will change based on what you have done to the intake system. The AE table versus Delta LV8 should not need much change. Start with off idle response then drive and add at the higher LV8 as necessary. Don't go over rich on AE - it will cause some delayed over rich problems.
9.) Enable closed loop and verify your fuel work.
10) move on to timing adjustments. Getting a proper idle timing map will really improve idle with a moderately big cam. (mine is an xfi280 and idles at 825 -875)
12. Repeat everything to fine tune.

Note on your low idle issue - I had a bad idle after cold start condition. Adjusted the coolant temp spark spark correction disable temperature - this retards the spark on cold starts, probably to light up the cat. APYP is 130F - set mine down to 55F and fixed the problem. Also running 10 degrees base timing helps. Set base in the Bin to match.

Thanks for info this will be a great help.

With the MiniRam when you get to AE tuning you probably want to set your minimum delta % TPS to enable AE at a lower number to account for the larger inrush of air when opening the larger throttle body into the larger plenum. It needs to be above the TPS noise however or you will be constantly running in AE (rich). Mine is at 1.7% for my 90 mm throttle body and homemade plenum.

If you have more questions post them here.
