Default o2 Sensor Fuse

Hey all, I just wanted to share with you all something I never had happen to me. I have a 1996 Corvette base model. I was driving home from work a few days ago and the infamous SES light came on. Light stayed on steady and the car seemed to struggle a bit, but not much. What I did notice is the engine was running rich. I noticed the smell of fuel once I got home and parked it. So, I plugged in my scanner and I found that all 4 o2 sensors were showing no output. My heart dropped because what are the odds of that? Anyway after the initial panic attack I found the fuse for the o2 sensors and replaced it. The fuse is located in the fuse panel on the passenger side fuse panel (15amp mini). As soon as I turned the key to the on position it popped again...immediately! Ok, so now I know there is a short or a seriously damaged o2 sensor. I raised the car and removed the front drivers side o2 connector harness. It's important to disconnect one harness at a time or else you will not be able to locate the culprit. I then turned the key to on and guess what? it didn't pop. Ok, so after inspecting both harnesses I found the harness that goes to the car had some bare wires right at the spot where the wires go into the harness. In fact, the wires were actually completely crossed and fused together. I had a spare harness from when I changed out my passengers side o2 sensor, so I installed that and now it is all set. I just wanted to share that with you all. Something that seemed like a nightmare was actually just a bad dream lol. Thanks for reading.

When I replaced my O2 sensors the connectors and wiring were falling apart and brittle. With all the heat they are subjected to and time they break down. As soon as I touched the writing and connector all started to fall apart. I avoided a problem for the future as I was lucky.
