As I am building a 396 in the near future in my 88 L-98 , I want to know that the ZZ9X camshaft from TPIS is any good for that setup ?? I am ordering the miniram setup next month and I tought that it will be tought full if I order the ZZ9X for my future setup !! what you think of this camshaft ?? does it work good in a 396 L-98 ??

thank you

It should go just fine with a 396.

I believe those are the specs for the ZZX.

For the ZZ9X I have:
287/290 dur.
225/240 @ .050
.525/.558 lift
lsa 116

These might be outdated though.

well, the 225I @ .50 would probably be a bit tame for a 396 miniram
the 239I @ .50 should be a screamer!

You should find out the specs for the Cam before you go by what we say, call them and get the specs.

the 396 has some cubes, i wouldn't look at any heads with less than 200cc intake ports, especially with the ZZX miniram combo

I think with the size of your motor you should go with something bigger than the zz9x also.

I hope there's no emissions on the island, the ZZ-X won't pass. It has a pretty radical idle.

I've ridden in an LT1 with heads and a ZZ-9X, and it pulled pretty nicely, accceptable idle too. The ZZX is a bit much for an everyday car, IMHO.

ZZX cam are very radical. Checkout tech review section. So far only one person on this forum has used this cam on 396ci LT1 ( Phil LT401). He says still streetable and made very good power. Also per Phil written up on the tech review, The cam ad say 239/239 @05. But when he degreed the cam its actually measured 242/242 @.05

I agree. You might want to look to another company as I have a ZZX cam sitting in my garage that spec'd in very poorly also.
