Z07
What is the main use for them cars ?
How would you compare the set-up to standard or FX-3 (alone) ?
How hard/expensive is it to change a non Z07 to Z07 specs or comparable ? (FX-3 equipped and non equipped) Did hear Z07 springs are hard to find.
How much weight does this option ( including FX-3 ) add to total GVW ?
How happy are you with it ? Problems and resolting costs ?
What setting do you find yourself driving most on ?
Questions,questions,questions ...
Seeking the knowledge for a 95 Z07 .( not sure if spring rate is same for all Z07 years .)
Remember cars of mine set-up with yellow and red Konis and also Bilsteins ...extremly tough ride but unbelievable handling . Adding the FX-3 to allow you to be able to enjoy a gentle ride when needed just sounds to good to be true .
Thanks !!

Oh yeah , perhaps the dummest question would be : can the FX-3 be changed at all speeds ?
Previous owner bought it for autocrossing

Hardest setting all the time

In my experience ('92 model year), changing to any setting other than "Performance", just makes the ride more floaty, but not really any more comfortable. The main problem with the ride is bottoming the suspension over bumps, which isn't solved by decreasing the damping, so I never found a reason to change the setting. May be different on different model years.

Yes, you can change it at any time. The shock settings are always changing based on speed too, it's not a fixed setting. The **** just controls the range.
I wasn't looking for it in my car... it found me!

I ordered this one :D

As far as the FX3 is concerned, there was a great need for the suspension that came out in the Challenge cars for the SCCA & NCCC guys who wanted to race the C4's. The Z07 option actually has a lot more than just the springs, shocks & sway bars. It also has model-specific lower control arm bushings (harder than the base system), an oil cooler, a power steering cooler and a quick-ratio steering box. They also came with lower restriction mufflers.
The Z07 springs have a much flatter arc than the base springs, so the Z07 also sits about 3/4" lower than the other models. They are nearly impossible to get your hands on anymore, and IF you can find some they are a very rare find.
While it isn't impossible to build a Z07 car, it is hard to find the parts.
Maybe it is just on the early Z07's, but I can FEEL the difference in every mode. There is a noticeable change in the feel and the feedback generated through the wheel as mine is switched over. That was even BEFORE I changed the shock valving and controller, lowered the car, etc.
The signature shows how flat this car handles through a turn. That one is doing about 60 MPH through a 180 degree carousel. It handles like it's on rails, yet is still not too harsh in Tour Mode (like my '86 Z51 was).
I've had to rebuild the shocks once (1x) and I have 70k miles on the car. Not too bad considering the amount of track miles and autocrossing I have on it, too....

I wasn't looking for a Z07 when I bought mine, I was just lucky enough to find one that was what I was looking for in other respects, so I bought it. The Z07 option was just a cool bonus for me.
I usually leave mine on the sport (middle) ride control setting. Honestly, I don't notice a lot of difference during regular driving. The FX 3 is a nice option for performance driving though. The best thing about it is that it can be modified to do anything you want. Bilstein can revalve the shocks to be stiffer if you want, and you can also get custom computer chips to make the soft setting softer and/or the performance setting firmer. The flexibility is nice to have.
The main use is anything you want it to be. Mine is my driver. I don't own another car. But people that buy a car to autocross or race on a road track frequently look for a Z07.
