We had a productive couple of hours buttoning the car back up. The lifters went in today. That's a funny story. My mechanic was feeling the lifters out, inspecting them before they went in. Don't you know...one felt scratchy, had a lot of sideplay and when you pushed your finger down on the roller ball...it actually had a skip type feel(VERY resistant). So off to Auto Zone we went, got a new lifter....primed the engine...and on went the lower. My injectors and fuel rails are going on Tuesday when the injectors return along with the roller rockers. When the super ram gets back from being super shined....we'll button her back up and hope to make the cartek corvette challenge(Not racing until I get the new computer).
I took a few pics...These ought to do for now. I have one in particular of my hypertech rotor with a huge groove worn in it(those pesky nylon screws loosening up) so we put a regular GM one in with STEEL Screws. Should be ok. New distributor goes in with the new computer anyway.
Ok...here are the pics.
I'll keep you posted when more parts arrive. Won't be long now :)
what valve spring are you running JD & what was your shift point? possible you had a faulty lifter but i'm just taking notes to try & avoid a similar situation.
Answering the first question....whatever LPE runs for a 219 Cam. I think Scorp has the same one's. I shift it between 5800 and 6000.
I will say I found it quite odd when the motor was being primed..only the left bank was being oiled. My mechanic used an old distributor shaft...and upon suspiscion...there was some other hole or groove on the distributor that provided lubrication to the other side(in a running situation, both). So He took out the left lifters that we're lubed and popped them to the right.
Gabe, it was a nice warm feeling seeing the engine go back together! It'll be nice when EVERYTHING is sorted out(in addition to it's new shiny look) and I can get it's azz to the track. That is long overdue.
I Can't wait'll next week :D Oh, Jim, the intake was thoroughly cleaned out off the car, that's why you didn't see any anti-freeze. It is REALLY clean.
;) Chuck, like how the ports are NICE N SMOOTH? Porting is sweet. :yesnod:
I've read a couple of tech articles that both said NOT to use the nylon/plastic rotor screws. Seems that often come loose and cause all sorts of carnage.
federal mogual, speed pro, sealed power etc...all the same thing, anyway those lifters are on ebay for $75-120 a set all the time. same lifter lingenfelter uses.
Yep, my jaw nearly hit the floor when Rich sent me the pics. I am soo pumped to get it back, and hopefully cruise it to englishtown on saturday(Cartek Corvette Challenge).
