So I am having some issues with the 96 Coupe. My PKE worked well once I purchased a remote and programmed it. then when working in the center console area, key off, the PKE light went crazy. and then the PKE system did not work. I got a known good module and finally got around to installing it today. Well when going into remote programming mode, the PKE light will come on with the key in run position, as if the system is active, and stay on for several seconds after key is turned to off position, but will never flash.
second problem, I have no running lights to the center interior section, HVAC, DIC, Radio, A/T shift indicator, which are all on one circuit, and tied to radio.
There was an after market radio installed, but the original harness was still intact. I bought a known good used factory system.
That brings me to third problem. The radio played great with the aftermarket......... don't ask me to explain going back to factory........ Now the radio comes on plays but the is lacking volume.. ... With volume wide open it is like you have it on 3 out of 10.......... The PO says that the speakers are factory........ with an after market radio, is anything done at the speaker....... I know that the amps are at the speakers, not in control box.......... So any input will be appreciated.
The original radio may have been swapped out because the CDM went bad. The sound goes from head unit, to CDM to speakers on the Bose system.
I tore into her today starting with the rear speakers. The rear speakers are matches to the replacement pioneer stereo..... The factory wiring was still there, just cut into to by pass amplifier. I figured out the wiring and put it back factory and rear speakers work great with factory stereo. Now to the front speakers....... left front is missing tweeter/subwoofer, not sure which it is called. The passenger side is complete, just the amp by passed to new aftermarket speaker.... Got the passenger side wired properly and it works great...... trouble is, the drivers side front is missing the tweeter/sub woofer......... so it has no sound......
I have not go back to lighting and PKE issue..... but the interior is gutted about 1/3.............
As far as the lighting issue, there is only one bulb at the shift selector but there are places for two..... looks like the wiring has been bubba'd........ like a lot of the interior........
So here is where I am. I begin programming sequence for key fob..... I turn key to run position and the PKE light comes on with other lights. I cycle the DIC buttons....... Turn key to off leaving it in...... Light stays on, no flash. I remove key, light stays on, put key back in, light goes off.
second scenario, I turn key on to start seguencs, the PKE light dose not come on. I cycle the DIC to begin programming, nothing. I remove key, put key back in, turn key on and PKE light is on..... And the cycle goes round and round.
Myself i don't like the pke system. To me its a PITA constantly cycling locks and alarm very time the fob is bumped.
Are there any codes? The programming procedure is lacking. Once in programming mode module is looking for remote only. Diagnosis is only by code. Look in section 9K for PKE.

in this scenario, the light will stay on indefinitely. Close doors walk away, several minutes later light is still on. Putting key in switch is only light will go off.
Also, system will not enter diagnostic mode.
Where does the PKE diagnostic system check chart take you?
when I jump pins 5&8, nothing happens. Jump pins 5 &8, turn key to on position, nothing. Depending on which part of scenario listed above, the light either comes on solid or not at all.
