I have an early 1990 Corvette coupe (L98 - 350ci). I purchased Corvette Rocker Arm Kit, 1.52 Ratio, Competition Cams, 1986Late-1995 Part # 25-104099-1 from Ecklers. Included in the kit are new 5/16 inch guideplates(Competition Cams 4808). The new guideplates bolt holes are slightly narrow for my heads and I cannot bolt both stud bolts in at the same time. The stock guideplates have a wider and shorter slot. Can I keep my stock guideplates? Any suggestions?
Update: I got the first Competition Cams 4808 guideplate bolted in. Started the bolts with the guideplate on the studs but backed off from the head. Very tight fit. Thx

Reason: Update for guideplate information
The OEM guide plates were used only to roughly position the rods during assembly and so did not touch the rods during normal operation.
If your new rockers are not self-aligning then you need the new guide plates, else use the OEMs.
