EDIT: try spraying carb cleaner into the intake or into a vacuum line...if it starts or tries to start you definitely have a fuel delivery problem !!
If they are multec injectors, 10 pound sledge hammer would be appropriate. Smaller bits can be easily flushed down the toilet

By what? Did you have a lot of crud going through the filter and got caught up by the basket filter or just varnish? Either way, get a reman set from FIC and be happy.

As shown up in the thread, the car sat for a long time and the gas turned to varnish.

If you can look at the basket filter before assuming it is varnish, it might be better. I would want to know if there is crud in the tank or not.

My 1985 has a similar problem it starts and then dies. The spark plugs are soaked with gas. May want to fire it up and pull a plug immediately after it dies. Still working on my problem. Good luck
