Has anybody bought and installed one of these? It connects the front upper control arm bulkheads together. Claims improved handling. Just wondering if anybody has done one and if you can tell any difference.
I have. The camber brace, along with a harness brace tied in at the upper seat belt bolts, really firmed up the car. I put the braces in last year when the car had 16,000'ish miles on it, and the squeaks and rattles went away. The car is a joy to drive (of course I don't drive it with the top off). The next part to put on is the x-brace I bought.

It is much easier to put in if you have a helper.
drcook: consider boxing the X-brace. That alone made a noticeable difference in my vert.

I was hoping someone had a pic. It looks like probably won't go on because of my supercharger. Where did you get the other brace for inside the car? I used to see one that went across behind the seats and tie points were at I think the storage mounts for the targa top but haven't been able to locate one now.

Exotic Muscle. However I had to have one of the holes welded up and redrilled and I had to fit it in. It bolts to the targa top holder bolts and to the upper seat belt bolts. Some folks have enough of the stud left to put the targa holders back, I did not.

When you say boxing the x-brace, are you referring to the stock convertible x-brace, or an aftermarket one? Sounds like mod I may want to make to my vert. Any pics?
I have a camber brace in my C3 and it does stiffen things up some.

The Harness bar doesn't look bad installed. My wife made the padding. We found torch red vinyl at JoAnn Fabrics that matches exactly. I bought some scrap carpet out of another Vette and used it to cover the spots where the targa top brackets were.

I've never bought into the 'harneass bar" as a chassis stiffener; I've always felt that, "there's already a cross car brace in the car; the top of the rear wall". After taking apart the 'vette kart and seeing the frame flex, I'm beginning to see how a brace back there could help.

The odd thing is that while the top part (upper seat belt bolts) are directly to the frame, the lower mounts (targa holder bolts) are just into the SMC. Weird.

Yeah, I hear you. When I put the Dana 44 that is on the way from Mississippi in, I will pull out the wheel well and look up in and see what I can see. Maybe there needs to be more reinforcement added for long term viability. As we all know, sometimes fixing a problem in the short term, causes a detrimental effect in the long term.
I was watching a show where a Mustang was being stiffened up. Of course sub-frame braces were added, but then they welded a tube (square IIRC) to the pinch weld. Then ran lateral bars from the sub-frame braces to the new tubes. I have often wondered (after seeing your vids) how it would work combining the x-brace with the vettetovette braces or somehow fabricating some longitudinal additions to the x-brace.
I know it would be adding weight but the trade-off would be more chassis stiffness.
I installed a camber brace also.. and it seemed to make a improvement. I also have a targa truss bar which made a tremendous addition when i have the roof out. I don't seem to use it much, I just recieved really nice c-beam plates and i also have the convertible X brace to install.

The camber brace and cross bar make dramatic differences on my vert. I have the original RDR items.
When I moved from CA to PA many years ago I had to take the camber brace off because it was too stiff for the shitty midwestern roads. I eventually put softer springs on the car and was able to put the brace back on. Stiffer chassis + softer springs = improved ride AND handling.
