Good day all,
I have a quick check for you and a question.
First, I have an '87 bone stock base coupe, almost completely original except for maintenance and fix/replacement parts.
I found that I had no speedo (reads 0 after startup check), NO CODE 24. turns out this is because the circuit was complete with a good VSS sensor.
Popped out the VSS sensor and spun it with a drill and speedo reads fine.... total curcuit/parts check. it turns out to be the drive gear on the output shaft of the tranny.
quick disassemble (hah) to re-install the gear... found clip, gear good.
Here is my question:
There are 2 holes in the output shaft, which one does the gear clip locating pin go into?
I have the gear and know which way the clip faces, I just need to know which hole to use as this was a bear to disassemble in the driveway on stands and I don't want to have to do it again if the driven gear/VSS won't fit after reassembling.
Please advise.
Also i read everything I could find in the forums and am so appreciative to you guys/gals for the pointers.

I would not have tried this in the driveway had I not had so much help.
Thank You Thank You
