Default Need rocker recommendation for LT4..

Found the vin on the vehicle these came put of and they're within the recall (doh!) Car will be 98% track so dont want to risk it. Can someone recommend a solid 1.6 setup that will work? Reasonably priced please.

Any of the roller rockers will work. When we (the impala ss club) used to race back in the 90's and 2000's, guys used pretty much all the brands Summit and Jegs sell. I don't recall anyone having a rocker failure. If you can afford them, the Comp steel roller lifters are 5% lighter over the valve than most of the aluminum rockers. But even the Summit brand rockers held up to thousands of drag strip passes.

Production LT4 heads have the 10mm non-adjustable stud.... aftermarket rockers to fit are non-existant. You will have to change the studs to either 3/8 or 7/16.

I would recomend the Scorpion Endurance series rockers. For a track car, I would recomend the big 7/16 studs. I would also recomend getting away from the self algining system and put a set of guide plates and hardened pushrods on it.

If you dont want to upgrade the pushrods and use guide plates, Scorpion has a narrow body self algining rocker for 3/8 studs.... Summit sells it private labled as their own brand for a few $$$ less.

So are the lt4 rocker studs press fit? Im really not in a position to yank the heads and start tapping. I was under the impression they used 3/8 threads but had a 10mm shaft... is that incorrect? I knew I was going to replace the stud, just wasnt read for that amount of work...

Studs are screw in type and 7/16 thread at base. Steel is recommended for all but drag racing. Aluminum for drag racing. You will also need a narrow style because center bolt valve covers. Non self aligning will require hardened guide plates and push rods. Heads can stay on. Machining head and deck surfaces may require different length push rods. There are YouTube videos on determining correct adjustment and push rod selection that are better than i can explain it.

The studs are 7/16x14 on the bottom where they screw in the cyl head. This is the same bottom thread for the 10mm LT4, the 3/8 and 7/16 aftermarket studs.

It is a very simple conversion.

I see you are Alexandria. If you want to come right down the road to Dale City, we can sit down, break out a few catalogs and the computer to go over your options. I'll even be glad to help you install the stuff and show you how to adjust the valves if you need the help.

Missed your location. This guy can help you. http://www.ellweinengines.com/ He's down in Mechanicsville. haven't talked to him in a while, but he's a good friend of mine. We used to race every Friday night down at MIR.
