The Deaded ABS/E-Brake Light
Have an 88 Vette which I bought a few weeks back. When I bought it, the ABS & E-Brake lights were on. The previous owner, who had the car for over 20 years, said the lights had been on for years, and that the E-brake works fine. I did a lot of searching online and found that most people suggest to replace the ABS Relay module located in the well behind the driver's seat to resolve this issue.
I replaced that module today and got the following outcome:
The ABS & E-Brake lights are still on, but once started, the Vette would not turn off, even with the key removed from the ignition (!!!). Additionally, none of the interior lights would illuminate. I pulled the new ABS Relay and put the old one back in, and that at least got the Vette back to normal operating condition.
Yes, this is my first Vette. I usually work on old trucks, so a 1988 Vette is "new" to me.
I have no guides other than a Haynes manual. The car runs fine, the E-Brake appears operational and not stuck in any way, but those dash lights drive me crazy and I would really like to fix this issue. Has anyone had this effect when replacing the ABS Relay?
Thanks in advance for the help.

I did look through the forum extensively, and I think your thread is the one I used to narrow down some of the possible causes. Sounds like the ABS Relay module is the culprit 95% of the time, which is why I went with that first. It is possible that I got a bad replacement relay, as I cannot imagine an ABS Relay module would cause the engine to not turn off!
May I pose a probably very stupid question: does the ABS Relay module need to be grounded? I noticed that the aftermarket module has a metal clip with a screw hole in it. The module I pulled out did not have a screw hole, just a metal clip that attached to a prong.
The part I purchased is this:

Working on getting an FSM as well.
Thanks,
