Time to tackle another of the various small things that have never worked on my car since I bought it!
1990 ZR-1. The cruise control does not function at all (pressing SET doesn't do anything). What's more, the fuse for cruise control/power mirrors blows randomly, usually within about 30 minutes of driving.
Other info:
-I've taken the steering column apart to check the wires there. No issues with continuity and no exposed patches that I could see
-I've checked for vacuum leaks just in case (I imagine fuses blowing indicates electrical), vacuum system is fine.
-The fuse does not blow immediately on turning cruise on, or when pushing SET or R/A, it seems to blow randomly
-The cruise does not function even when the fuse is currently solid (which I can verify because my power mirrors work then).
When mine stopped working I faced the same problem. I finally found it under the rubber boot. Above your battery is where the cable comes in and out to the throttle control. Look under the rubber boot and there is a chain. That chain is in two pieces. They are connected by a "chain connector". Mine had rusted in two. New connector and it now works. Hope this helps.

Do you mean this piece?
It seems to be fine, and when I press the diaphragm in by hand it is moving the throttle, so I don't think it's a mechanical problem?
I'm guessing there's a short somewhere but I don't know where to start looking. Thanks for the suggestion though!
You might try checking the switches on the brake and clutch pedals. I have an auto but the switch on my brake pedal was corroded and not making contact. I changed the switch and no problems since. This should not cause the fuse to blow but could be part of you problem.
