my rear hatch solenoid has a mind of its own
The other nite I went out to my 96 corvette and the hatch was open and the solenoid was clicking on and off. I closed the hatch and started to drive. When I was driving at about 40 mph the solenoid clicked and the hatch opened! I pulled over, closed the hatch, but the solenoid kept opening so I couldnt keep the hatch closed. I had to pull the fuse to keep it shut. Any Ideas?I thought you couldnt open the hatch while you were moving. please give me your ideas Thanks Rich

first things i would check is:
1. The actual switch it'self ... shorted etc
2. shorted wires from switch
3. The selonoid ... shorted etc coil

Its going to be the switch or a shorted wire between the solenoid and the switch. My first guess would be the switch.

My 86 did the same thing for a few days last summer, almost drove me crazy. I went around and cleaned the spilled soda off the buttons and switches and the problem went away. I know it's not supposed to happen when the car is moving, but it did for me. Good Luck

I think I found the problem. The 2 wires going to the switch were going over a sharp piece of metal.I think the metal cut the insulation of the wires and was conecting the circuit.
