Let the oil drain for a couple of days? I am amazed how much drains out after maybe 1/2 hour with a main drain pan and 2 days with a small drain pan. Dan

Extended drain for the LT5 is actually suggested. A couple of days I'd think a 'stretch' but certainly extended is 'suggested'. An overfill has happened frequently if the LT5 doesn't get an extended drain.

I left the big drain pan under for 1 hour and then replaced with this small pan for 24 hours. Maybe 3-4 oz. Dan

I will say if it drains a day or two you do have to add a little extra oil after 5 quarts to get right to the top of the hatched area on the dipstick. Must be 5 quarts is perfect if you let it drain 5 minutes. Dan

I usually let mthe oil drain overnight foe r my cars. What is amazing is draining the transmission fluid on my bracket car. I have a drain plug for the tranny pan. I've let that drain for a couple weeks. It continues dripping because the converter slowly bleeds out. I probably get an extra couple quarts drained out compared with a 10 minute change.
