base idle
If the plug over the base idle is still in place can i asimue that the base idle it set ok. i set the tps and the timing and the car idles at 700 rpm. Do i need to set base idle

I wouldn't mess with it, but that's just my opinion based on personal preference. Some like it higher some like it lower but 700 rpm's is what I shoot for when setting the base timing.

My plug was still over my base idle screw, but when I checked my base idle it was too low, the car would not run. Follow the instructions on this website.

Whatever you do make sure that the timing is dead nuts on the money before messing with idle speed. It will change the idle speed and if it's incorrect everything else will be too. If it doesn't make sense then make sure your balancer is ok. Sometimes we set the base timing and it doesn't act right........ we check it out and the balancer has shifted....... once that is corrected (replaced the balancer) then it all came back together :seeya
