Hi all. I'm from Australia and have a 1984 corvette that I put a ls1 and 4l60e in to. I've managed to get a Dana 44 rear end for it which I think was out of a 1985 4+3 but I'm looking to put 3.73 gears in to it.

All the reading I've done says viper gears fit as well but I'm coming across diff gears that are from wj grand Cherokees that say they fit vipers and Corvettes. Is this true? Also some of them note the bolt size for I assume the crown wheel to carrier, does anyone know what ours is?

Seems like I can get some fairly cheap gear sets on eBay in the states sent to Australia but I thought I'd ask here anyway, if anyone has 3.5 or 3.73 (preffered) gears for a c4 Dana 44 and wants to box them and ship them to Australia let me know. Would prefer to buy from a forum member than eBay.

but does anyone know if grad cherokee stuff fits?

i was only aware of dodge viper gears fitting.

also ill be removing the whole centre and giving it to a driveline guy to put the gears in to spec etc, does anyone know what other parts i need to provide him with (its a bit hard to get the stuff quickly in australia) like will a minor install kit do? or major?

Note that one set has 7/16" bolts the other has 3/8"

….. The C4 Corvette D44 carrier uses 3/8ths inch ring gear bolts …they are easy enough to drill out to 7/16ths ... some of the Jeep ACA gears will fit but will usually need a crush sleeve for pinion bearing preload … the C4 D44 uses shims … the most common Jeep ratio is 3.73 with 4.10's available … good luck ! …..
