Default Bafl prom

I now have 2 1993 Ruby's and 3 ecm's. All proms are for the 6 speed . Will the prom from all of those work in all the ecm's? Or are they specific as a ccm would be to use? Trying to figure out if I have a bad ecm. Have a communication error in the one car, swapped out one ecm and thought it cleared up problem and now have a no start issue like it maybe VATS as pump is not coming on. Can't find my second key to see if it maybe the problem. Thinking about using the ecm and prom to put into the car that is working. I don't want 2 dead cars!

Switch your original prom into the new ecm, it should work fine.

The memcal inside the ecm should have a broadcast code on it, open up the cover on the ecm and you should see it.

I guess what I am asking is that any of those proms will work as long as they are the BAFL and do not have to be the original one.

A BAFL PROM is a BAFL PROM . My car, your car, his car, and any car that specifies BAFL to be appropriate so long as it's mated with a 'correct' ECM will be/should be fine.

SO long as none of the BAFL features have been 'overwritten/modified'

Today I tried swapping out the ecm's out with my new ruby 2. The one ecm came up with asr and service soon light. The other one wouldn't start the car just like in ruby 1. Put the original back in ruby 2 and put the other one that had the error message back in ruby 1 and it fired up. I didn't let it run long enough to set a asr and service soon light.
So one ecm wouldn't start either car. So is it in the ecm or can a prom be bad???
So both are running.
