Default 1988 corvette starting problem

My 88 corvette takes turning of the starter for up to 10 seconds before the car starts . never used to take that long to start . once started and run the car then starts easy during the day if started numerous times . The hard starting occurs after the car has not been started for several days .

You might want to post this in the C4 section.

Sounds like the fuel pressure is bleeding down. Put a gauge on it, it should hold 36psi or higher for hours.

Yep. This is the correct starting point.

Or a bad regulator, or.....

Maybe we need to see if the pressure is bleeding down first. If it does, go further and see where it bleeds. OTOH, if the injectors are Multecs, toss them and the pressure regulator and see what the pressure does. If it still bleeds down, check the pulsator in the tank

What's the ambient air temp when doing a "cold start"? I'm thinking of a possible issue with the cold-start injector/sensor.

Scan the ECM to see what it sees and do a IR scan of the CTS and the IAT sensor. See if the ECM agrees with the IR thermometer and go from there.

Based on what? The idea that he has Multec injectors? Do your homework before making a SWAG and then getting frustrated that it didn't work. I don't trust Multecs either but we still don't know what he has tested yet.

Sounds exactly like the issue I'm having with my 88. Do you have a factory service manual? Similar to what aklim says, the FSM has you first check for fuel pressure.

Do a search under this section for "cold start" if you don't have a FSM . Someone had posted an image of the troubleshoot test.
