Default STUPID QUESTION

ok, i lied... I have 2 stupid questions

Stupid Question#1 ( two part)
How many quarts of oil for an oil change on a 96 LT4, and how do your reset the "change oil" light

Stupid Question#2
what is an "Open Air Lid", is this something "home made" or do you buy this? ...and anyone have a pic of what it looks like? I have a K&N Air Filter but not an open air lid....and what does it do?

your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated :) hehehe
:yesnod:

You might try purchasing a manual, and you will be surprised how smart you will become.

Voltech, when I changed my oil and filter it took 5 qts. to bring it to the full line. If you have an owners manual it tells you how to reset the change oil light. I cant remember the sequence off hand but if you don't have a manual let me know and I will look it up.
The open air lid is your air filter cover. You can buy one or cut your own out. It is just a cover w/ the center cut out for better air flow. Ussually combined w/ a K+N air filter. Good Luck, Guy

I thought you said 2 questions. I see about 5 there. :jester . You can make an open air lid by just cutting the front off yours. Just make sure you leave enough of it there to hold the filter in place.

LT1 takes 4.5 quarts, not sure if LT4 is the same or more.

I think it says 4 or 4.5 in the manual but when I changed mine w/ the filter it took 5 to bring it to the max full line. Guy

I just changed my oil and filter last weekend. 4.5 quarts brought it up to about half-way up the oil stick mark. 5 quarts brought it to the full (top) mark. Getting the old filter off (fram) was a pain in the tight quarters. But hopefully the K&N with the attached nut thingy will be easier.
